Presents Three New Shows
DONNY & MARIE, COLM WILKINSON and AMERICAN IDIOT
And a new way to buy tickets with Flexi-Subscriptions

At a media announcement today, Dancap Productions added two new shows to their 2011 line-up at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts: DONNY & MARIE and COLM WILKINSON IN CONCERT: BROADWAY AND BEYOND; and one new show at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, the explosive Broadway musical
GREEN DAY’S AMERICAN IDIOT
.

“Dancap Productions is constantly seeking out the newest and most interesting theatrical experiences for Toronto audiences,” states Aubrey Dan, President of Dancap Productions, “and we are committed to providing the most flexible customer service options available as part of our endless season of programming!”

Currently in residence at the Flamingo Las Vegas, DONNY & MARIE took a side trip to Broadway for a two-week run last December, and will do the same this summer for Dancap Productions at the
Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.

This theatrical concert, which marks the first time the duo have performed live together in almost 30 years, showcases Donny and Marie’s greatest hits including  “Paper Roses,” “Puppy Love,” “Go away Little Girl,” and others, in a rave-reviewed multi-media spectacle with a big rock band and show-stopping production numbers, audience interaction, and the trademark teasing between siblings.

The “little bit country, little bit rock n’ roll” duo took North America by storm with Donny & Marie, their own variety show in 1976, becoming the youngest primetime hosts in television history and solidifying their worldwide fan base.

Making their Toronto debut as the world’s favourite brother and sister singing team, Donny Osmond spent much of the 90s in Toronto (and on tour) performing the role of Joseph in the
mega-successful Canadian production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat.

“Donny and Marie are the real deal! They are extraordinarily talented, and having worked in show business their entire lives, they are consummate professionals,” stated Peter Lamb, Dancap Producer & Executive Vice President, at today’s press announcement.

“It was a total pleasure working with Donny on the Toronto production of Joseph.  Reaching out to Donny was one of the first things I did when I began working at Dancap Productions. I am thrilled that we will be presenting Donny and Marie for the first time together on a Toronto stage!”

DONNY & MARIE will play the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts from July 5 – 17. Tickets go on sale to current subscribers and for groups of 12+ on March 8.  Tickets will be available for new subscribers as part of Dancap’s FLEXI-Subscription as of March 14.

A celebrated star in Canada, on Broadway and in London’s West End, Colm Wilkinson has spent many years on the stage mesmerizing audiences with his starring roles in international productions of Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera. This Dancap presentation of COLM WILKINSON IN CONCERT: BROADWAY AND BEYOND will coincide with the North American release of his new album, Broadway And Beyond The Concert Songs, and will feature such signature songs as “The Music of the Night,” “Bring Him Home,” and “Danny Boy.”

Wilkinson achieved international fame when he created the role of Jean Valjean in the hit musical Les Misérables with The Royal Shakespeare Company.  He played the part in London’s West End, on Broadway, and in the now legendary London 10th Anniversary Concert. Wilkinson also created the role of the Phantom for Andrew Lloyd Webber at the Sydmonton Festival in 1986.  He went on to star in the Toronto production of The Phantom of the Opera for four and a half years, performing the part over 1,650 times and for 3.5 million theatre-goers.  Wilkinson is a two-time Dora Award winner: he won his first Dora in 1990 for his portrayal of the Phantom, and once again in 1998 when he returned to Toronto to perform Jean Valjean in Les Misérables; for which he also won the Helen Hayes Award,
The Outer Critics Award and The World Theatre Award.

Colm Wilkinson will come home this summer, and perform COLM WILKINSON IN CONCERT: BROADWAY AND BEYOND for two performances only, August 12 & 13 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. Tickets go on sale to current subscribers and for groups of 12+ on March 8. Tickets will be available for new subscribers as part of Dancap’s FLEXI-Subscription as of March 14.

Direct from Broadway, the smash-hit musical AMERICAN IDIOT tells the story of three lifelong friends, forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia. where it’s never gone before.

With direction by Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening) winner of the 2010 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Director of a Musical, choreography by Steven Hoggett (Black Watch), orchestrations and arrangements Tom Kitt (Next to Normal), and Tony Award-winning Scenic Design by Christine Jones and Lighting Design by Kevin Adams, AMERICAN IDIOT cenic Desis an experience Charles Isherwood of The New York Times declares “thrilling, emotionally charged, and as moving as any Broadway musical I’ve seen this year!”

DONNY OSMOND
Donny began his illustrious career in entertainment at the age of 5, and by 13 had already collected 18 gold records, eventually earning a grand total of 33 throughout his career, with sales of over 80 million albums.  He recently released his 55th record, Love Songs of the 70s, which shipped gold in the UK.  His starring role in Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat broke records during its 6 year run of 2,000 performances.  During his extensive career, Donny has been a singer, actor, triple-threat television series host (talk show, game show, variety show), best-selling author (his autobiography entered the UK bestseller chart at #1 last year), commercial spokesman, motivational speaker, and even a race car driver.  Reflecting his multi-generational worldwide fan base, his website, donny.com, receives a staggering 120 million plus hits annually.

In 2007 he starred on Broadway as Gaston in Beauty & the Beast, hosted two television series on British network television, was a special correspondent for Entertainment Tonight’s coverage of Dancing with the Stars featuring his sister Marie, and performed at the Concert for Diana, seen worldwide by 2 billion viewers.

2008 marked the Osmonds 50th anniversary as a performing family.  After a historic appearance on Oprah which set a daytime ratings record, PBS broadcasted a pledge drive concert special celebrating the milestone, and the seven performing Osmonds toured the UK and AustralAsia for the first time in 27 years, to sellout crowds.

Donny & Marie then announced they were reuniting for what was intended to be a six month run headlining the legendary Flamingo Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip.  Donny & Marie opened in September 2008 -- after only 5 weeks, the engagement was extended for two years due to unprecedented demand from around the world; it has since been extended yet again through the end of 2012.

Donny was the Dancing with the Stars champion in the fall of 2009 (37 million viewers each week), and is the erstwhile co-host of The Insider, and continues as a special correspondent for Entertainment Tonight.  Donny currently also hosts two daily nationally syndicated radio shows, and this spring he and Marie are releasing their first studio album in over two decades.

Donny and Debbie, his wife of more than 30 years, have 5 children and 3 grandchildren.

MARIE OSMOND
Beginning with her national debut at age three on The Andy Williams Show, Marie has proven to be a resilient talent with a magnetic presence known across generations. Performing for almost five continuous decades is a rare accomplishment achieved by very few women in the entertainment business.

Marie recorded Paper Roses at age twelve, making history as the youngest female artist to have her debut record go to #1 on the charts, followed by a Grammy nomination.  With over 30 albums and numerous gold records, an additional career highlight was winning a Country Music Association’s “Vocal Duo of the Year” award in 1986 for Meet Me In Montana, with the late Dan Seals.

An additional historic “first,” Marie became the youngest-ever host of a national television variety show, The Donny & Marie Show (1976-81);“appointment television” for millions of viewers and broadcast around the world in over 17 different languages.

From pop music to the country music stages, Marie was then beckoned to Broadway to star in The Sound of Music and The King and I, which garnered rave reviews and played to sold out houses on national and international tours.

Since September of 2008, Marie currently performs five nights a week to sold-out crowds and great reviews in Las Vegas at the Flamingo Hotel Showroom with her brother, Donny.  “Donny and Marie,” is the first time the duo has reunited on the stage in over 28 years and has also resulted in a new Donny & Marie album, released in 2010.

In November of 2010, Marie expanded her musical range once again with her solo project, a much-anticipated inspirational album titled I Can Do This.  Following its release, it was instantly in the ITunes top ten listing after she performed “Pie Jesu” on The Oprah Winfrey Show

Times Square’s famous Marquis Theater was the venue for the December 2010 top-selling Broadway show:  Donny & Marie:  A Broadway Christmas, which played to full houses and was extended twice due to ticket demand.

Above every other accomplishment, Marie is mother to eight beautiful children who will always
be her greatest treasures.
